Scolopi Palace
89 Via Fiorentino, Palma di Montechiaro
Ottieni indicazioni
The building, now home to the municipal offices, is certainly one of the most beautiful of the late Baroque heritage.
Built in 1698 by Giulio Il duke of Palma and prince of Lampedusa, it was completed on 8 December 1712, the day of the Immaculate Conception and the cardinal
Giuseppe Maria Tomasi entrusted it to the “Padri Scolopi” (Piarist Fathers) of San Giuseppe Calasanzio who established the institute of the “Scuole Pie” (Pious Schools) there which in the 19th century became a real University attended by various young people from the island's aristocracy.
Next to the Palace is the Church “Sacra Famiglia” with which it forms a single architectural complex.
